Tottenham's young striker Alejo Veliz may return to North London in January after an underwhelming loan spell at Espanyol.
The Argentine forward, who joined the La Liga club on a season-long loan in the summer, has struggled to make a consistent impact during his time in Spain.
Reports from La Grada Ràdio indicate that Veliz is open to leaving Espanyol this winter, while another outlet AS suggests the club is prepared to end his loan early.
Manager Manolo González is reportedly no longer confident in the 21-year-old, and Espanyol's need to free up squad space and reduce their wage bill for new signings makes an early departure for Veliz increasingly likely.
Despite netting four goals in 15 appearances across all competitions, Veliz's opportunities have dwindled since November, casting doubts over his future with the Catalonian side.
Veliz joined Tottenham in August 2023 on a six-year contract worth £13 million. He made his Premier League debut as a late substitute in a 2–1 victory over Liverpool and scored his first goal for Spurs later that year in a 4–2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
In February 2024, Veliz went on a six-month loan to Sevilla, where he wore the iconic number 10 shirt previously donned by Diego Maradona.
