Tottenham take on AS Roma in the Europa League later today and it could prove to be a vital game for Ange Postecoglou’s side in the competition.
They may be able to achieve sort of consistency in an inconsistent season, as Spurs are fresh off their emphatic 4-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend.
Even though Roma have won only once in their last five games in all competitions, their striker Artem Dovbyk is a man to watch out for. He has two goals in the Europa League and four in Serie A and will play a key role in the game in London.
Corriere dello Sport have provided some background to the Ukrainian’s transfer to Roma, stating that the striker could have ended up at Tottenham in the summer.
They state that Dovbyk, later today, will face a team that would have been 'his present' but Spurs decided to not meet Girona’s asking price of €40m for the 27-year-old despite carrying an interest in him as far back as April and May.
Postecoglou’s side signed Dominic Solanke instead, with Roma meeting Girona’s asking price for Dovbyk.
The newspaper mentions that the forward has had a complicated few weeks at the Giallorossi due to the ownership protests in Rome, but he is now finding his feet. The Premier League 'fascinates' him and he would love to do well against a Premier League giant like Tottenham today.
