Tottenham keen on 24-year-old Championship star with 'an amazing temperament'

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson as a backup option to Guglielmo Vicario.
Tottenham currently need cover in the goalkeeping department with the Italian international injured. The 24-year-old Championship goalkeeper could prove to be the ideal acquisition.
According to a report from the Sun, Spurs are plotting a January move for the player and it will be interesting to see if the Black Cats are willing to sanction his departure.
Patterson is highly rated around the country, and he has been described as a top goalkeeper with an amazing temperament by Tony Mowbray.
"He's a top goalkeeper," Mowbray said.
"I've been in football more than 40 years and this kid is a very talented boy who has an amazing temperament.
"Nothing fazes him, he's very calm about everything, he's not bouncing all over the place and losing the plot.
"He's a very calm goalie who makes great saves."
It remains to be seen whether Patterson is willing to accept a backup role at Tottenham. He is a key player for Sunderland and he needs regular football at the stage of his career. Sitting on the bench of the North London club might not be ideal for him. He will start games in the absence of Vicario, but he is likely to be the backup goalkeeper once the Italian is back from his injury blow.

The 24-year-old is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. He is a key player for Sunderland and they are pushing for promotion.
