Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the PSV Eindhoven left-back Matteo Dams.
The 20-year-old left-back has done quite well in the Eredivisie this season and his performances have attracted the attention of the North London club. They will face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool for his services, as per Give Me Sport.
Tottenham could certainly use another quality left-back, especially with Ben Davies out of contract at the end of the season. Dams would be a long-term addition for Tottenham and he could compete with Destiny Udogie for the starting spot.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite attractive for the player, and he will look to prove himself in English football. Regular exposure to the Premier League could accelerate his development and help him fulfil tremendous potential.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham step up their pursuit of the defender with an official offer in the coming months. The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool will be attractive destinations for him as well. The player will certainly be tempted to join a big Premier League club in the coming months and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
The defender must secure gametime assurances before committing to a move. He will need a clear pathway to the first team and ample Premier League exposure to continue his development. Sitting on the bench at a big club is unlikely to benefit him. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to provide him with gametime assurances.
The 20-year-old certainly has the potential to succeed in English football, and whoever ends up signing him could have a quality prospect on their hands.
Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has been quite mediocre in recent months and they need to find a quality replacement for him. The 20-year-old could be the ideal long-term investment for them. Similarly, Manchester United need an alternative to Luke Shaw, who has struggled with persistent injury problems. Dams would be a quality addition for all three clubs.
