Tottenham learn asking price for 22-year-old Chelsea target they are keen on

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Bournemouth defender Ilya Zabarnyi.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, he has a contract with Bournemouth until 2029, and they would be willing to sell the player for a fee of around £50 million.

Spurs will face competition from rivals Chelsea and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to break the bank for the defender. Zabarnyi has impressed for the Cherries since joining the club, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for both clubs.

Tottenham need more defensive depth in the side, and the Bournemouth centre-back could be the ideal acquisition for them. 

Tottenham have been tracking the defender for a while, and it remains to be seen whether they step up their pursuit and come forward with an official offer for the player. The defender is highly rated by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca as well. They need upgrades on Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi.

It remains to be seen where the player ends up eventually. He has the quality to play for both clubs and he could help them improve.

Tottenham will be hoping to push for major trophies in the coming seasons and they need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions. They need to bring in the right additions over the next few windows to challenge the top clubs.

Zabarnyi is already well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an instant at Tottenham if he joins the club. The player will be tempted to join a big club so that he can compete in European football and fight for trophies with them.

Tottenham and Chelsea will be attractive destinations for him. However, the asking price would complicate matters. Even though he is a reliable Premier League defender, £50 million is a steep price to pay.
