Tottenham make enquiry for £42m Chelsea target who "can basically do anything"

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on signing the Feyenoord defender David Hancko.
The 27-year-old has been a key player for the Dutch outfit in recent seasons and he is on the radar of Chelsea as well. Feyenoord have set an asking price of around €50 million (£42m), but a move in January is unlikely. They could consider selling the player at the end of the season.
As per CaughtOffside, Tottenham have asked for information regarding the player's availability, and it will be interesting to see if they submit an offer to sign in the coming months. It is no secret that they need a quality central defender. Players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have struggled with injury problems and Tottenham are lacking in depth in the defensive unit. Signing another quality central defender would be a wise decision.
The 27-year-old has proven himself in the Dutch league and European football. He has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well.
Ex-Feyenoord defender Tim de Cler described him to SoccerNews as: "He is so stable and can basically do anything. I just think he is a top defender all-round".
The opportunity to move to England could be quite exciting for him and he will look to prove his quality in English football. Tottenham could be an attractive destination for the player. Even though they have had a disappointing season, they have an exciting project and a talented squad. They could be challenging for trophies in the coming seasons and Hancko will certainly want to be a part of that.
Meanwhile, Chelsea need to improve their defensive unit as well. Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi have been quite underwhelming and both players could be on their way out of the club soon. Chelsea needs to replace them adequately and the 27-year-old could prove to be the ideal acquisition.
It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs manage to secure an agreement with Feyenoord.
