Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their attacking unit and they have been offered the chance to sign Jonathan David.
As per GMS, they have been offered the chance to sign the Canadian international along with a couple of other Ligue 1 stars.
The LOSC Lille striker will be a free agent at the end of the season and naturally, he is being linked with a move away from the French club in January. Lille might not want to lose the player on a free transfer at the end of the season, and it would make sense for them to cash in on him this month.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for the North London club. They need to add more cutting edge in the final third and David could share the goalscoring burden with Dominic Solanke.
The Canadian International is a proven performer in French football and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football.
The manager of the Canadian national team, Jesse Marsch has recently heaped praise on the striker, labelling him as a really clever player with an infectious personality. It seems that the Canadian could prove to be a quality addition to the Tottenham dressing room as well.
Marsch said in November (h/t Canadian Soccer Daily): "I've advertised him often as the most intelligent footballer I've ever coached. His ability to put things to practice, his ability to read in the game, what's necessary. He's really clever.
"He's a very special personality. He's very direct and straightforward, and kind of what you see is what you get, which is, I think one of the things that everybody who's around him really likes and makes him an infectious personality."
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can take advantage of his contract situation and get the deal done on a bargain. They need to improve their squad if they want to secure Champions League qualification for the next season.
David will be tempted to move to the Premier League as well, and Tottenham could be an attractive destination for him. They have a talented squad and car charismatic manager. Their attacking style of football could be a good fit for him as well.
Tottenham are unlikely to be the only club keen on him, and they need to act quickly to get the deal done.
