27-year-old set for Preston North End exit, Portsmouth eyed winter deal

PNE midfielder Ryan Ledson is set to leave the Championship club this summer, according to reporter Mike McGrath.
Preston North End are set for another season of Championship football when the 2025/26 campaign rolls around. They’re not mathematically safe yet, but PNE are seven points above the drop and 16th in the table.
Paul Heckingbottom is hoping his side can end the season on a high after some poor previous run-ins at Deepdale but with little to play for, it can be tough to get everything out of players.
Decisions will be made on the futures of many at North End though. Heckingbottom will be out to enact change in what is his first full summer transfer window ahead of next season.
Now, writing on X, reporter Mike McGrath has said that one player already expected to head for the exit door at PNE is long-serving midfielder Ryan Ledson.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and it seems he will not be penning fresh terms at Deepdale. It will end his time at Preston North End after seven years, during which he has played 213 times.
Ledson has been in and out of the side more this season though. He’s started 13 games, been subbed in 11 times and remained an unused substitute on 17 occasions.
