Leeds United’s transfer recruitment will be ‘key’ to their success in the Premier League next season, Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton believes.
Leeds United are back in the top flight following their promotion from the Championship. LUFC will now battle with Burnley for the title.
The Whites are ahead of the Clarets on goal difference in the table with two fixtures left to play. They face Bristol City at home next Monday before they play Plymouth Argyle away on the final day.
Journalist Thornton has delivered his verdict, as per Sky Sports: “The club have ambitious owners who have already unveiled plans to increase the Elland Road capacity by nearly 20,000. The expansion would make it England’s seventh-biggest football stadium. A big summer lies ahead, and recruitment will be key. But (Daniel) Farke sees this as a project, and it was the challenge of establishing Leeds in the Premier League that persuaded him to take the job almost two years ago.
“What’s clear is that this is a challenge he will relish, and his focus will quickly switch to building on this season’s promotion, making an impact in the new campaign against the best sides in the country, and creating a legacy at Elland Road.”
Leeds United latest ahead of the summer
Leeds United need to make sure that they get the right players through the door over the coming months. LUFC will need to be prepared for the massive step up in quality.
They lasted three seasons the last time they were in the Premier League. The West Yorkshire outfit will want to establish themselves this time around.
Daniel Farke was brought in back in 2022 after they were relegated. The former Norwich City man guided the Whites to the play-off final last year.
However, they were beaten 1-0 at Wembley by Southampton. Nevertheless, they have bounced back in this campaign and will be relieved that they don’t have to go down that route again.
What now for Leeds United?
Leeds United’s immediate aim will be on getting the title won. LUFC are carrying momentum and will want to pip Burnley to top spot.
Farke will then turn his attention to the next transfer window. He could do with a new goalkeeper following his decision to drop Illan Meslier for Karl Darlow recently.
The Whites will also need some fresh attacking options. They must have strong competition and depth throughout their squad and possess different players to call upon in each position to deal with the improved quality of their opponents.
