Danny Rose now says what his relationship with Jose Mourinho was actually like during his time at Tottenham

Jose Mourinho had a tumultuous time at Tottenham to say the least.
Mourinho has a unique personality in football to say the least, and at Tottenham, he clashed with a number of players.
Mourinho famously called Dele Alli a lazy trainer at Spurs, and he had fallings out with a number of players.
However, other players loved Mourinho. Harry Kane called Mourinho 'fantastic' after he left the club, and The Special One seemingly left quite the impression on some of Spurs' players.
Danny Rose was basically frozen out of the Spurs squad under Mourinho, and now, speaking on You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker, the full-back has been discussing his relationship with his former manager.

What Danny Rose's relationship with Jose Mourinho was like
Rose spoke about his relationship with Mourinho and how he got on with the gaffer.
The full-back says that he basically didn't have a relationship with Mourinho during his time at the club, stating that he simply didn't suit his system.
However, contrary to some belief, Rose says he didn't actually have a big falling out with Mourinho.
"I only really worked under him for eight or 10 weeks so I didn't really have a relationship with him. It was just a normal player/manager relationship, hello, good morning, how are you?
"He came in and he had this approach of wanting to build with three centre-backs and having the right back as the outlet. My game was that I enjoyed being offensive and his system was the left sided player would be a centre-back and not go forward. So my days were numbered at the club when he wanted to adopt that approach.
"In 10 weeks it wasn't like there was a huge falling out. That conversation you see on the documentary is a completely normal conversation and any player who is not playing on the Saturday, the first thing you do is knock on the door.
"When Poch was there, there was no cameras in his office. He didn't allow that, so when I have gone to knock on the door I was assuming there were no cameras in the office, but they had put one in. I didn't know that. I didn't get notified until May that they had got this and were putting it in, so I wasn't happy."
What happened with Danny Rose?
Rose says that he knew his days were numbered at Spurs when Mourinho arrived, and he wasn't wrong.
Indeed, Rose never played a single game under Jose Mourinho at Spurs, and he would eventually join Newcastle on loan in that January transfer window.
Rose wouldn't make much of an impact at Newcastle, playing just 11 times for the Magpies before being sent back to Tottenham.

Ultimately, Rose would be released by Spurs in 2021 before moving to Watford where he would play just nine games before being released.
As for Mourinho, the Portuguese gaffer left Spurs in 2021 before taking the Roma job shortly afterwards.
Now, the former Spurs boss is managing Fenerbahce in Turkey, but Mourinho is apparently looking for a job in England again, so there may yet be more chapters to write in Mourinho's remarkable Premier League storybook.
