Emile Smith Rowe finally moved on from Arsenal this summer after a torrid few seasons and he looks like he’s approaching his best again in a Fulham shirt.

Smith Rowe was one of a number of Fulham players to perform yesterday as they saw off Newcastle United with ease at Craven Cottage.

Smith Rowe got himself a goal to set his Fulham career alight and overall, it was the performance of a player who is very much back enjoying his football.

Of course, Arsenal got around £30m for their academy product and they’ll be pleased to see him doing well.

And admitting things had been tough, Smith Rowe has now opened up on his current state of mind.

Emile Smith Rowe shares his honest feelings on leaving Arsenal for Fulham

Speaking to the BBC after starring for Fulham in their win over Newcastle, Smith Rowe was questioned on his last few seasons and his return to fitness.

And the former Arsenal man admitted the last few seasons had been hard for him.

“I’m really confident at the moment and comfortable with everything. I’ve got to keep going and keep working hard,” Smith Rowe said.

“Everyone knows it has been a tough couple of seasons for me, I have to stay fit and I feel good at the moment. I’m feeling confident and happy.”

Career-defining season could be on the cards for Smith Rowe

Nobody has ever doubted the ability and potential of Emile Smith Rowe but the last couple of years have been a real frustration for him.

Still, Smith Rowe now looks back to his best in a short space of time and that is a huge plus for both he and Fulham.

He is back playing in a position he excels at and in Marco Silva, seems to have a manager who is fully behind him.

Smith Rowe has been tipped to make a return to the England squad and on current form, it’s not the craziest shout ever.
