Exclusive: £51m 'powerhouse' has decided he wants to join Manchester United this summer

A midfielder who has often been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer has decided he would 'love' to join the club following talks.

Newly-appointed Dan Ashworth has a considerable task on his hands this month and next, attempting to repair Erik ten Hag's disjointed squad.

TBR Football recently shared that United may reluctantly agree to loan out Jadon Sancho for another season.

Sancho, who has strong interest from Juventus and Borussia Dortmund is due to arrive for pre-season imminently.

And given neither side would be prepared to meet United's £40m asking price, it seems Ashworth and his team would settle for another temporary move.

That being said, Ashworth also arrives at Old Trafford with ambitious plans to improve Ten Hag's squad with incoming signings.

And TBR understands that United have now held talks with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

23-year-old Ugarte has interest from a host of European clubs this summer ahead of a potential PSG exit.

And TBR can share that United were in attendance to watch Ugarte in his latest Copa America showing.

Manuel Ugarte would love the chance to play in the Premier League with Man United

Ugarte played 120 minutes against Brazil for Uruguay, who ended up winning on penalties in Las Vegas.

United were officially in attendance to check on Facundo Pellistri's form, but TBR understands they were there primarily to check on his teammate Ugarte.

The central midfielder is available from PSG and United are one of a number of clubs informed about his availability.

United have now held talks with Ugarte, who was even on the club's radar before he joined PSG in 2023 for £51m.

Now with changes coming at the Parc Des Princes, United are keen to sign Ugarte again, and TBR is told that the 'powerhouse' midfielder would love the chance to play in England with Manchester United.

As mentioned, Ashworth will be looking to overhaul Ten Hag's squad to the best of its ability in order to make way for the likes of Ugarte to arrive.

Moreover, as part of those plans United are looking to move on a host of midfielders this summer.

And as well as Casemiro, the club are willing to listen to offers for Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay.
