Exclusive: Aston Villa now in talks to sign £1.7m 'jewel' refusing to pen new contract, Manchester City also keen

TBR Football understand Aston Villa have opened talks with Caen to sign Tidiam Gomis – who Manchester City also like.
Aston Villa are already pushing to sign Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund – although Monchi is also working on a deal to bring the French wonderkid to Villa Park.
It comes amid a time where the Villans are about to lose one attacker – with TBR Football aware that Jaden Philogene is undergoing a medical at Ipswich Town after a £21m fee was agreed.
Unai Emery is clearly keen to make some changes to his squad as the Spaniard aims to drag Aston Villa higher than eighth in the Premier League.

Now, sources have provided TBR Football with information regarding Aston Villa’s pursuit of Tidiam Gomis.
Aston Villa in talks with Caen to sign Tidiam Gomis – who is not signing a new contract
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been informed that Caen are looking to sell the France U19 international this winter after learning he will not sign a new contract.
Gomis sees his current terms expire in June 2025.
We understand Caen are keen to sell the 18-year-old for a fee this month before he enters free agency this summer and departs for nothing, with Newcastle, Everton, Brentford and Brighton also monitoring the situation.
Sources state that a sum of just £1.7m would be enough to sign Gomis now, although Aston Villa and others can also agree a pre-contract ahead of signing the attacker for free in the summer.
Sources have told TBR Football that Manchester City admire the teenager – described as a “jewel” by Sky Sports – and could sign the winger before loaning him to another side in the City Football Group.
RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Lille are also interested in Gomis – who has scored two goals and provided two assists in 17 Ligue 2 appearances so far this season.
Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara could help Tidiam Gomis settle
Aston Villa already have a couple of French speakers who could help the youngster settle in at Villa Park – if an agreement materialises – in the form of France internationals Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara.
Emery also spoke in French during his time at PSG – so if Aston Villa and Caen agree a deal, Gomis will presumably be in good hands in the Midlands.
