TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Liverpool have not been informed by Trent-Alexander-Arnold that he will leave in the summer and instead, the Reds are ready to make him an unprecedentedoffer to stay.
Spanish sources claimed that the 26-year-old had told the Merseyside club that he had agreed to join Real Madrid, however, no such message has been communicated as things stand.
TBR Football can reveal that Liverpool remain locked in talks with the right-back over a new contract as they desperately attempt to keep hold of him.
The latest on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future
Trent Alexander-Arnold has not communicated to Liverpool a desire to join Real Madrid and for now, talks remain ongoing over a new deal, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
The Premier League leaders are ready to make Alexander-Arnold the highest-paid Englishman in the top flight as they fight tooth and nail to keep him on Merseyside. Jack Grealish is currently the highest-earning Three Lions star as he is on around £300-a-week at Manchester City.
Madrid are lurking in the background ahead of next month’s transfer window when they will be free to discuss a pre-agreed contract with the England international.
TBR Football understands that Los Blancos are in touch with Liverpool at the highest level with club president Florentino Perez informing them that they make them aware of any approaches or news, should they make an offer.
But for now, the 15-time European champions are yet to make a move for the Liverpool academy graduate and talk of an agreement already being struck is premature.
Trent Alexander-Arnold should take Jurgen Klopp’s advice to Philippe Coutinho
Trent should take the advice Jurgen Klopp gave to Philippe Coutinho back in 2017 ahead of his move to Barcelona.
Klopp urged the Brazilian to stay at Anfield and become a hero with the Merseyside club, but the forward opted not to listen and joined Barcelona in January 2018.
Klopp told Coutinho: “Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour. Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more.”
Alexander-Arnold must realise at Liverpool he will be adored forever more by supporters, but moving to Madrid, he will be just another player to come through the door at the Santiago Bernabeu.
There is an exciting new project taking place on the red side of Merseyside under Slot and Alexander-Arnold must think twice before trading it for Madrid.
