England defeated Slovakia 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 on Sunday evening.

Gareth Southgate’s men were well below par but Jude Bellingham’s stoppage time leveler inspired his side to win the tie in extra-time.

Harry Kane scored the winner to send England fans into total elation, though, once the dust has settled, there will be an acceptance that things must change before they face Switzerland.

The Three Lions struggled to create anything of real note in normal time and it’s become evident that attacking full-backs are needed to provide more balance.

With that said, Neville has issued a prediction about Liverpool’sTrent Alexander-Arnold.

Gary Neville thinks they’ll be a clamour to start Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Switzerland

Speaking on ITV, former England and Manchester United defender Gary Neville predicted that fans will be crying out for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer to start against Switzerland.

“Everybody in the country has been crying out for more change,” the 49-year-old said.

“The same clamour will happen again for Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold to come in to create more balance and more excitement.

“To think you can go through a one month tournament playing the way we are doing is unrealistic.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold must start vs Switzerland

England have had little balance in the full-back positions with Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier both much better at defending than going forwards.

Alexander-Arnold simply has to start next Saturday, as he’d provide much more attacking threat playing on the right or left.

Further, Palmer once again made an impact off the bench and is really pushing to break into the first 11, potentially forcing Bukayo Saka out, who seemingly wasn’t pleased with playing at left-back.

England are still in it but they have to improve and Southgate must make the right changes.
