Conor Gallagher names Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri among his toughest opponents
Gallagher, speaking on ESPN, named Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as his toughest opponents.
The Atletico Madrid ace was asked about the three toughest opponents he had ever faced and why this was the case.
“I’ll put Kevin De Bruyne up there,” he began. “Obviously one of the best midfielders of our generation.”
Gallagher then said: “I’ll put Rodri in there. I’ve had a few good battles against him in the last few years and he’s obviously just won the Ballon D’Or.”
The third player he named was Cristiano Ronaldo, who he faced whilst on loan at Crystal Palace in a 1-0 loss at Manchester United in December 2021.
“Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Gallagher. “Although at the time he wasn’t at his best, you know, it’s Cristiano, so I’ll just put him there.”
De Bruyne and Rodri’s Man City careers
De Bruyne has made 397 appearances for Man City, registering 104 goals and 171 assists, since his move from Wolfsburg in 2015.
He has won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three English Super Cups, and a FIFA Club World Cup whilst at the Etihad.
Meanwhile, Rodri has made 260 appearances for Man City, registering 26 goals and 30 assists since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2019.
He has won four Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one English Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup under Pep Guardiola.
