'Good news': Journalist shares Arsenal striker transfer update that should 'bring some joy' to fans

It's been a long time since Arsenal signed an out-and-out striker.
Kai Havertz arrived at Arsenal 18 months ago, but he's not a natural centre-forward, so Arsenal's last true striker signing was in the summer of 2022 when Gabriel Jesus arrived at the club.
It's been two-and-a-half years since Jesus' arrival, and Arsenal need a striker.
Indeed, Arsenal have had some problems in front of goal as of late. Mikel Arteta's side went three matches without an open play goal last month, and that sort of run can be costly.
Arsenal will be in the market for a new centre-forward soon, and, just like London buses, after waiting a long time for one, two may come along at once.

Arsenal could sign two strikers
Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Arsenal's plans in terms of signing a new striker.
Jacobs says that two strikers could arrive at Arsenal this year, claiming that Arsenal could look at Evan Ferguson this month as his pricetag may have halved from his initial £100m valuation.
"I don't think many many of the top targets will come in, but I think the good news for Arsenal, to try and bring some joy and positivity for 2025, is that they might sign two," Jacobs said.
"Whoever comes in January may feel a bit less exciting to fans, in the same way there wasn't as much buzz over Leandro Trossard, but he's been excellent.
"You find a savvy name now that is economical, but then you go for a big name in 2025.
"Evan Ferguson could be seen as a stop-gap solution for Arsenal and a squad player. Brighton haven't decided if they want to sell him.
"The challenge for Arsenal with Ferguson is that they've filled their two Premier League loan spots, so they would have to buy him permanently, but the good news is that his form has dipped so much that we're not looking at £80m to £100m. Maybe the pricetag has halved and Arsenal might see value in that."
Evan Ferguson stats this season
Ferguson was seen as an exciting prospect at one point, but his performances over the past 12 months haven't been great.
Indeed, the Irishman has been off the pace for a long time now, and his stats as of late aren't befitting of a player being linked to a club like Arsenal.

Yes, Ferguson is a young player with a lot of solid raw attributes, but the fact of the matter is that he's not proving to be a £50m player at the moment.
Sometimes, you do have to take a gamble on a promising player to help your team grow in the future, but, right now, Arsenal are in a position where they need immediate results in order to push for the Premier League title.
Alexander Isak has been linked to Arsenal, and he would be a much more suitable signing.
Arsenal are just behind Liverpool in the table, and the right January signing could help them close that gap.

One day, Ferguson could become the player who is a difference-maker in a title race, but, right now, the Brighton striker isn't the type of player who is going to fire Arsenal to a league title.
