Arsenal are currently on the lookout for a new striker this month amid a pressing need for attacking reinforcements.

The Gunners currently lack an out-and-out No. 9, which has arguably held them back and cost them points this season.

Arsenal are also suffering from injuries in attack, with Bukayo Saka on the sidelines and Gabriel Jesus possibly set for a lengthy stint out.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers, including a Brazilian talent who South American football expert Tim Vickery has now recommended for the Gunners.

Tim Vickery urges Arsenal to look at Igor Jesus

The player in question is Botafogo striker Igor Jesus, a player who has already caught Arsenal’s eye, as previously confirmed by TBR Football.

Vickery has described Jesus – who is valued at £30million – as a “very impressive” talent who has given Manchester City-bound Vitor Reis a hard time in the past.

Vickery told Sky Sports News on Wednesday: “A year ago Jesus was playing in the United Arab Emirates and wasn’t even a household name in his own home!

“Their scouting network is so good. They picked up on him and waited till he was out of contract to bring him in and by October, he’s Brazil’s starting centre forward!

“The owner of Botafago is John Textor, who also has a stake in Crystal Palace. He is saying Jesus will move to the Premier League in this window. He has described him as the perfect centre forward.

“He is strong and mobile. He really bullied Vitor Reis, who is about to join Man City. He can combine, score in the air and off either foot. He can also put in a defensive shift. He is very impressive.

“Linked to West Ham, Ipswich and Brentford but Arsenal could do a lot worse than look at him.”

What Igor Jesus has said about Gabriel Martinelli

Jesus has previously compared himself to Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli, along with fellow Brazilians Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

"The (Brazil) national team has a very pacey attack when you look at players like Vinicius, Rodrygo and Martinelli," Jesus said. "I think my game is quite similar to theirs.

"I like to try to attack the spaces and I am mobile. I don't just stay in the box.

“I am capable of holding onto balls played out by the keeper and holding off defenders, which I think helps to ease the pressure on the team in tough passages of play.

"I hope I can play well so that I get called up for future squads too."
