Arsenal are yet to make a new signing in the January transfer window, but a deal has been struck between two other clubs that will earn the Gunners a financial windfall.

Last summer, Arsenal sold striker Mika Biereth to Sturm Graz for £4million after impressing on loan at the Austrian club.

Now, Biereth is set to be on the move once again, with Fabrizio Romano declaring “here we go” on the next step of the former Gunners man’s career.

Mika Biereth set to swap Sturm Graz for Monaco

Romano, writing on X, declared “here we go” on Biereth to Monaco, with agreement reached between the Ligue 1 club and Graz.

The Dane’s medical at Monaco is scheduled for Friday, and Graz are set to earn an initial €13million (£11million) plus €2million (£1.7million) in add-ons.

Biereth registered nine goals and nine assists for Graz last term while on loan from Arsenal, and is on 14 goals and five assists this season.

The 23-year-old is now set to join up with former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, who moved to the Ligue 1 side in August 2023.

Biereth’s sell-on clause

Last week, football.london reported that Arsenal included a 'significant sell-on clause' in the deal which saw Biereth join Graz.

With Biereth set to move for just under £13million, the Gunners could well earn themselves a hefty windfall that could be reinvested in the team.

Biereth joined Arsenal’s academy from Fulham in 2021 and made a name for himself at youth level for the Gunners, though he never made a competitive senior appearance.

He took in loans at RKC Waalwijk, Motherwell and Sturm Graz before moving permanently to the latter for £4million just last summer.

Biereth previously said a return to Arsenal would be "fantastic", but unless Monaco play the Gunners again, it doesn’t look as this will happen any time soon.
