You have to be some player to be compared to some of the best to ever set foot in the Premier League but that’s what Cole Palmer has had said about him today.

Palmer was superb as Chelsea beat Brighton, with the England man smashing in four goals to once again show his quality.

Palmer’s free-kick was described as ‘mind boggling’ at the time and his performance in general was worth of winning any game.

Of course, Man City sold Palmer for just £40m and that is now looking like a real mistake from the title holders.

And speaking about Palmer’s continued brilliance, former Arsenal man Theo Walcott has claimed he’s on the same level as Gunners legends Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie.

Cole Palmer compared to Dennis Bergkamp after Chelsea v Brighton

Speaking about Palmer for the BBC, Walcott admitted he’s been left ‘speechless’ by the Chelsea man and compared him to Arsenal greats Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie.

“There’s nothing more I can really say about Cole Palmer. I am speechless. All four goals are brilliant too.

“His elegance. His beauty with the ball. His composure at such a young age. He has grown into his own at Chelsea and he is the main man. He has got a bit of finesse, Bergkamp, Van Persie about him and they weren’t bad at all.

“You can’t leave him out of any team, and I am talking about England too.”

Palmer the best in his position in the league

Enzo Maresca has moved Palmer inside a bit more to the number ten and at the moment, he is the best in the Premier League in that role.

There can now be no question marks over whether he starts for England anymore. He simply has to play, and someone else can drop out.

Chelsea are looking better and better under Maresca and with Palmer looking imperious, a top four charge is on.

The comparison to Bergkamp is a nice touch from Walcott as well. And on current form, a worthy touch.
