'Horrific': Chris Sutton says he's far from happy with £65m Arsenal player after this weekend

Arsenal won again this weekend as they dismantled Bournemouth 3-0.

However, there was a sour taste left in a few mouths during the game as Kai Havertz appeared to buy a penalty against the Cherries.

Havertz went down after Mark Travers came rushing out of his goal, and while the goalkeeper was reckless, Havertz himself was the one who initiated the contact here.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing this incident, and it's fair to say that he wasn't impressed by Havertz's dive.

Chris Sutton bashes Kai Havertz for diving

Sutton spoke about the £65m man and his antics against Bournemouth.

"Kai Havertz, I thought that was horrific from Havertz, he bought that penalty Rob. He dragged his leg along the floor into Havertz. Havertz has been one of my players of the season, but that has to stop, don't do it again," Sutton said.

Kai Havertz didn't need to dive

Sometimes in football, you try to win by any means necessary.

Nobody in Argentina would've blamed Diego Maradona for the Hand of God, nobody in Uruguay would've blamed Luis Suarez for his handball against Ghana.

Sometimes, as unsporting as it is, the ends justify the means in this game.

However, a home game against Bournemouth isn't the time to be diving like this.

Havertz has made a fool of himself a bit here, and while he did win a penalty for Arsenal, he's also tarred the Gunners' win here.

This isn't the first time an Arsenal player has been called out for diving this season – Ben White was accused of similar against Brighton a few weeks ago, and if this continues, the Gunners will get a reputation for themselves.

Diving is one of the most frustrating things a player can do, and this is something Mikel Arteta should try to stamp out of his squad.
