Chelsea’s Cole Palmer delivered once more this weekend as he scored four goals v Brighton and Gary Neville has now made a huge claim about the Englishman.

Palmer’s fine form continued as he smashed a quadruple past the Seagulls to once again show his quality.

After scoring more than 20 times last season, Palmer was under pressure to deliver this season and so far, he’s somehow taken things up a notch.

Of course, Palmer will need to keep it up over a number of seasons to be considered a true great of the English game.

And according to Gary Neville, he’s well on the way to doing just that, as Neville compared the Chelsea man to Liverpool star, Mo Salah.

Cole Palmer compared to Mo Salah

Speaking on NBC Sports yesterday, Neville spoke glowingly about Palmer and made reference to the same thoughts he had on Mo Salah years ago.

"He's not far off! I have to say that I was surprised last season. I remember when Mohamed Salah scored those goals all those years ago and I thought, 'He won't repeat that in the second season, he won't repeat that in the third season', and Cole Palmer is doing and just completely shocked me in terms of what he's delivering,” Neville said.

"I can't believe the level that he's getting to and to think that he wasn't playing for England in the European Championship in the summer now just seems absolutely ridiculous.

"And it seems even more ridiculous that Manchester City, who have been unbelievable in the transfer market, have let one of their own go."

Is Cole Palmer the best player in the Premier League?

That’s always going to be subjective, but as Neville says here, Cole Palmer cannot be far off and he’s certainly in the conversation.

Right now, especially with Rodri out injured for Man City, Palmer is right at the top of the list in terms of the discussion on the league’s best player.

For Chelsea, he’s certainly the top dog and Enzo Maresca must be counting his lucky stars that he’s dropped on such a fine player.

Palmer, then, looks like he’s going nowhere and just like Mo Salah, he could be here for years to come producing the goods.
