Arsenal have been linked with tons of strikers in recent times as they look to bolster their attack.

Indeed, Arsenal have looked at a number of striking options.

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Alexander Isak, while Victor Osimhen is also an Arsenal target.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have recently scouted Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, and speaking on Inside Gooners, Darren Bent has been discussing this potential signing.

Gyokeres has been on fire for Sporting this season, outperforming both Isak and Osimhen.

However, Bent isn't sold on the striker, claiming that he's not been doing it consistently enough at the top level.

Darren Bent not sold on Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal

Bent shared his verdict on the idea of Gyokeres coming to Arsenal.

Bent says he's not sure on Gyokeres because he hasn't been doing it at an elite level for that long, claiming that he wants to see another year's worth of consistency.

"If you look at his Portuguese record it's outstanding, but the fact that he's scoring goals in the Champions League makes me think, ok. I'd like to see maybe one more year of him doing it consistently,' Bent said.

"If he keeps doing it and scores goals this year in the Champions League and next year, maybe that is a large enough sample size, but to go from Coventry to Sporting then to one of the biggest clubs in the world, Arsenal, I'm not sure yet."

Premier League record signings from Portugal

Bent says he's skeptical about Gyokeres, and he has every right to be.

Indeed, while Gyokeres has been brilliant this season, he is only playing in the Portuguese League.

Signings from Portugal can be fantastic – just look at Cristiano Ronaldo as an example, but they can also be a bit hit and miss.

Premier League record signings from Portuguese LeagueFee
Enzo Fernandez£107m
Darwin Nunez£85m
Ruben Dias£65m
Bruno Fernandes£53m
Luis Diaz£49m
Matheus Nunes£45m
Eliaquim Mangala£42m
Pedro Porro£39m
Fabio Silva£35m
Ederson£35m

Enzo Fernandez and Darwin Nunez are the two most expensive Premier League imports from Portugal, and neither player has justified their transfer fee quite yet.

Fernandez has been criticised heavily since joining Chelsea, while Nunez has been inconsistent for Liverpool.

Of course, the likes of Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes and Luis Diaz have been hits, but, Fabio Silva and Eliaquim Mangala were bona fide failures.

Any team looking to sign Gyokeres needs to tread carefully, and, as Bent says, patience could be the name of the game here.
