Leeds United must pay Swansea City another £1.8m for Joel Piroe after their promotion to the Premier League, as per Darren Witcoop.
Leeds United are heading back to the Premier League after securing promotion from the Championship on Easter Monday. LUFC thrashed Stoke City and their fate lay in the hands of Burnley and Sheffield United.
After the 6-0 humbling of the Potters, all associated with the Elland Road watched the evening kick-off at Turf Moor knowing anything but a Blades win would see them promoted.
It was Burnley who emerged 2-1 victors, securing both their promotion and that of Leeds United in turn.
The celebrations in the Yorkshire city are sure to rumble on for some time, but with a crucial summer transfer window ahead, it marks the start of a huge period of work for many at Leeds United. Recruitment staff will be lining up top-flight targets, but promotion clauses in previous deals must be settled too.
Writing on X, Darren Witcoop has said that LUFC owe Swansea City £1.8m as part of the deal to sign Joel Piroe in 2023.
Payments are also owed to Fortuna Dusseldorf and UD Almeria for clauses agreed in deals for Ao Tanaka and Largie Ramazani.
