Ange Postecoglou had a game to forget as his Tottenham side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Tottenham blew a 2-0 lead at the Amex Stadium and ended their chances of winning six games in all competitions.

Only a few weeks ago, Spurs were losing the north London derby to Arsenal and the pressure was on the manager in the dugout.

And it was looking very likely that another three points were heading towards the way of the London club, but then Tottenham did what only they can do.

Paul Scholes admitted that they are 'the best in the league' at pressing high up the pitch, with Postecoglou one of the most attack-minded coaches in the league.

In recent years, the style of play being implemented at Hotspur Way has put fans to sleep and it has left many frustrated.

But it can't be argued that Postecoglou has transformed Tottenham's style and the entertainment factor has returned.

That was proven in the first half when they were 2-0 ahead and probably should have scored more given the speed and quality they were playing in.

Scholes was impressed by Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson during the first 45 as they all combined to play a part in the goals.

The legendary midfielder stated that Solanke was 'excellent' and how Johnson is now hitting a 'purple patch', as he told Premier League Productions (06/10/25 at 5:25 pm).

Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson against Brighton

"Tottenham are probably the best in the league in pressing high up," said Scholes. "They win it again, a really good ball for Solanke. I thought Solanke was excellent in the first half as a centre forward. It's all about the timing really.

"Van de Ven wins it, into Maddison and into Solanke. That's the most important thing, once you win it, you look forward. Bang into the centre forward. Great timing, from the pass and the from Brennan Johnson, you then fancy him. A real purple patch and his confidence is high. He slots it into the bottom corner."

Brennan Johnson scores again for Tottenham

Johnson deactivated his social media account after getting severe stick for his performances in Tottenham colours.

Yet, fast forward to the present, and he has scored in six consecutive matches in three different competitions for his team.

It has clearly worked and Johnson is probably one of very few Tottenham players who can hold his head up high.

Everyone knows that the attack in't the issue here, but Tottenham's defence just could prove to be the big difference in how they fare in these coming months.
