'Push you over': Antoine Semenyo names the one Liverpool player it's always so tough to play against

Just like Liverpool under Arne Slot, Antoine Semenyo has been going from strength to strength at Bournemouth this season.

Semenyo has scored five Premier League goals in total so far this campaign, even if he did blank during Bournemouth's 3-0 defeat away at Liverpool.

Interestingly, Liverpool have been scouting Semenyo recently according to reports, a player who could potentially come in were Mohamed Salah to leave.

Semenyo is versatile across several attacking positions, able to play as a central striker or on either wing, explaining his appeal to top teams.

That being said, were the 24-year-old ever to arrive at Anfield, he would seemingly be very happy to play alongside one of their current stalwarts.

Antoine Semenyo names Virgil van Dijk as toughest defender in Premier League

Speaking in an interview with Stadium Astro, Semenyo has revealed that Virgil van Dijk is the toughest defender he's ever faced in his career to date.

The forward claimed that Van Dijk will simply 'push you over' with his power if you're not careful, a defender Semenyo finds it very difficult to get past – much like the rest of the attackers in the Premier League.

Semenyo said: "Virgil van Dijk, without a doubt. I feel like as the years have gone on he's becoming more experienced, he's very smart, he's very tough to get past, I'll tell you that.

"He's very big, tall, obviously as you know, but once you get close to him you know you're going to feel the power, he's going to push you over kind of thing.

"So I feel like he's a very hard player to come up against and you know you're going to be in for a tough game against him."

Could Antoine Semenyo replace Federico Chiesa at Liverpool?

In terms of Liverpool's other options on the wing right now, it'll be interesting to see how Federico Chiesa's future pans out.

Chiesa is hugely frustrated at Liverpool, and Slot is ready to let the winger leave this month should the right opportunity arrive.

Of course, considering that Ben Doak could also leave Liverpool permanently, the club would surely need to make a move of their own in the transfer market if they lost both.

Diogo Jota is now back fit, which is a big boost for Liverpool, but given their busy fixture schedule to come, many will imagine that Chiesa in particular would need to be replaced.

Bournemouth would surely be loathe to lose Semenyo in January, but perhaps there is an opportunity for a club playing in Europe to tempt the forward in the summer.
