Report: Arsenal are now trying everything to sign £50m striker after Ollie Watkins bid fails

Arsenal are desperate to land a striker in the final few days of the transfer window and have seen offers for Ollie Watkins rejected.
Arsenal had a £60 million bid for Watkins rejected by Aston Villa who were left ‘furious with the timing of the offer from the Gunners.
The North London club now look unlikely to land the England international as Villa are close to selling Jhon Duran to Al Nassar and losing a second striker would be a disaster.
Now, Arsenal have turned their attention to another forward with just over four days to go until the January window slams shut.
Arsenal ‘pulling out all the stops’ to sign Mathys Tel
Arsenal are ‘pulling out all the stops’ to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, according to the Daily Mirror.
Tottenham are currently in talks for Tel who is expected to leave the German giants this month in search of more minutes.
Tel appeared to bid farewell to Bayern fans following their 3-1 win in the Champions League over Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday evening.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the race for the Tel and the Gunners will have to act quickly if they hope to land the 19-year-old.
Bayern value Tel at around £50 million and reports suggest they are open to a permanent, loan and loan with obligation deals.
Would Mathys Tel be a good addition for Arsenal?
A loan deal might be the best way to go for Arsenal in signing Tel who has shown excellent potential in the past, however, this season his form has dropped off big time.
The Gunners need an elite forward to help complete Mikel Arteta’s team and given there are question marks over the Frenchman’s current level, investing £50 million in him would be a risk.
The teenager represents a good opportunistic signing until the end of the season, but by the time the summer rolls around, their top targets will then be available.
So securing a player who can play down the middle or on the left on a short-term deal might be the best option, especially with Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka both sidelined for quite a while.
