Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his ranks.

The front line is likely to be high up on the Gunners’ transfer agenda in wake of what’s happened over the past few weeks.

Arsenal have found themselves without most of their main forwards for a number of months now, to the detriment of their league form.

That said, there were calls for Arteta to sign a new striker even before Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz all got injured.

Now, a report has emerged claiming Arsenal have set their sights on a “complete” 6ft 7in international striker who could be available for less than £30million.

Arsenal target Lorenzo Lucca valued at £29million

The player in question is Lorenzo Lucca, who has been making waves in Serie a for Udinese and has also won three Italy caps.

According to Il Messaggero Veneto, Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs keen on Lucca, with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest also circling.

There is also interest from Spain, with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid casting an eye on the 24-year-old centre-forward.

The report claims Udinese are willing to come to the negotiating table for offers of €35million, which works out at around £29million.

Udinese chief Gino Pozzo is open to cashing in on Lucca and signing someone else, with 20-year-old Iker Bravo also waiting in the wings, added the report.

Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike is another striker Arsenal are currently being linked with.

What Lorenzo Lucca could bring to Arsenal

Arsenal have long needed a classic No. 9, a target man whose job is to be the focal point in attack and slam those goals in.

Lucca certainly seems to fit the bill. He stands 6ft 7in tall (the same as Peter Crouch), is superb in the air, and has an eye for goal.

Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has likened Lucca to Italy legend Luca Toni and described him as “an absolute king of the penalty area” and “the complete package.

Better still, Lucca seems keen on trying his luck abroad, suggesting he’d be open to a move away from Serie A.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: “I have grown physically, technically and mentally.

“Abroad I see more goals. Serie A is difficult but it is a challenge that gives me adrenaline. I am the master of my destiny.”
