As advanced talks take place between Tottenham and Leeds for Archie Gray, Spurs could still sign another Championship talent as well.

The 18-year-old is now expected to join Tottenham after deciding against a move to Brentford, despite agreeing personal terms and undergoing a medical with the Bees.

So, who could join Archie Gray at Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham could still sign Jaden Philogene

A story from TEAMtalk claims that Tottenham could still sign Hull City No.23 Jaden Philogene this summer – despite a £19m bid from Barcelona.

The Spanish giants have just made an opening bid for the precocious England U21 international after his dazzling 2023/24 campaign with the Tigers, in which he scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 32 Championship appearances.

One of those goals was an audacious rabona effort against Rotherham, which led Micah Richards to say: “It was ridiculous… wow. A little bit of freedom, a little bit of flair to even try it. The audacity to do that… and then the execution was just sublime. So difficult to do.”

Despite the obvious pulling power of Barcelona, TEAMtalk believe Spurs are still firmly in the race to sign Philogene, and just want to focus on securing a deal for Gray first.

TEAMtalk add that Everton are also keen to sign the 22-year-old, who Hull City value at £30m.

The Toffees thought they would sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin moving in the opposite direction, although Sean Dyche is now looking at Philogene after that prospective deal collapsed.

Spurs adopting a sensible transfer policy

As Crystal Palace have shown in recent times, there is huge value in shopping in the Championship.

England’s second tier has produced the likes of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton – as far as the Eagles are concerned – while West Ham have taken Jarrod Bowen.

Borussia Dortmund also plucked Jude Bellingham from Birmingham before selling him to Real Madrid.

Therefore, as Tottenham target two of the Championship’s biggest talents in Gray and Philogene, no Spurs fan can complain about the recruitment policy, given the level of elite talent to have emerged from that division in the last few years.
