West Ham United are already drawing up transfer plans ahead of the Janaury transfer window.

The Hammers have endured a topsy-turvy start to the Premier League season under Julen Lopetegui’s stewardship.

Lopetegui’s men have taken eight points from a possible 12 and currently sit 12th in the table, so there’s evidently room for improvement.

With that said, despite spending over £120m, it appears West Ham are already considering another possible signing this winter.

West Ham interested in Ruben Loftus-Cheek

According to Milan Live, West Ham United could sign AC Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a swap deal with Edson Alvarez.

The Italian giants are keen on Alvarez as they’re looking to sign a versatile midfielder who can also play in defence.

That’s led a swap deal to be mooted in the Italian media, as Loftus-Cheek hasn’t quite adapted under Paulo Fonseca.

The former Chelsea man has been dropped to the bench in the last two league matches, so perhaps he could be open to returning to London this winter.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek profile

Loftus-Cheek, who’s been labelled ‘sensational’ per Milan’s official website, has typically operated as a number 10 in Serie A, though, he has also played as an eight.

The 10-cap England international netted 10 times in his debut campaign last year but is yet to get off the mark this term.

According to FBref data, Loftus-Cheek ranks in the top three per cent for pass completion per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his supreme proficiency on the ball.

If West Ham were to land his signature, it’d be a real smart pickup.
