'Today': What Federico Chiesa did in Liverpool training amid rumours he could leave Anfield - journalist

Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool has been talked about a lot in recent weeks.
The Reds signed the Italy international in a bargain deal last summer. Everybody viewed it as a positive signing and were excited to see how he would fare.
However, Chiesa has had his struggles with injury this season and that has limited him to just 168 minutes of football – 104 of which have come in the League Cup.
Chiesa has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli in recent weeks, and there is an update on the situation now.
Federico Chiesa wants to stay at Liverpool
Chiesa would’ve loved to play more, that’s no secret.
The Italian, on his day, is capable of causing problems to any defence in the world. He is a fantastic player, but he just hasn’t had enough opportunities – even when he has been fit.
TBR Football revealed earlier in January that Arne Slot is even ready to let Chiesa go in this window if he wants to leave Anfield.
FootMercato claimed that Chiesa is aiming to return to Italy on the advice of his national team’s manager Luciano Spalletti.
However, Italian journalist Gianluca Vitale has claimed that Chiesa’s entourage are insisting that the player will not leave Liverpool in this window.
He wants to stay and prove that he can have a positive impact in England and has even been showing ‘great energy’ in training.
Vitale tweeted on Tuesday: “Liverpool, Chiesa increasingly towards permanence: the entourage insists that he will not move from LFC.
“Great energy in training today, the boy wants to play his chances and show that he can also have an impact in England. Arne Slot has always said it: He just needed to find the intensity again.
“We will see if the strong esteem of Conte can change the cards on the table, but those who assist the boy do not believe much in his farewell, at least for now.”
Chiesa could get opportunities in three upcoming Liverpool games
Liverpool have one of the best attacks in the Premier League and Chiesa is not on top of that pecking order.
The likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and even Darwin Nunez are all ahead of him, and we don’t think Chiesa can have too many complaints about that.
However, the Italian could get more opportunities in the coming weeks in three games.
Liverpool are on top of their Champions League group and are certain to qualify for the next round. They can rotate in their two remaining games against Lille and PSV Eindhoven – Chiesa could play in those two games.
The FA Cup clash against Plymouth is another game in which Chiesa could get minutes if he stays. He scored in the last round against Accrington Stanley and is more than capable of doing the same in Liverpool’s next clash in the competition.
