It took just 11 minutes for Alexis Mac Allister to give Liverpool the lead in their Champions League clash with Bologna but if anything, the finish was his least impressive contribution to the goal.

Liverpool dominated the opening stages against their second consecutive Serie A opponents after beating AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro in the first league phase match.

Arne Slot's men were rewarded for their bright opening as Mac Allister tapped home a delicious cross from Mohamed Salah to become the first-ever Argentine to score for Liverpool in the Champions League.

However, this goal was all about the build-up with Mac Allister pulling the strings in a fine team move as he exchanged passes with Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez to get Liverpool within striking distance.

Mac Allister — who earns £150k per week according to Capology — then had the presence of mind to make a run into the box to ensure he was right on point for Salah's perfect cross.
