Walsall midfielder Brandon Comley was back in international action on Sunday evening as he and his Montserrat teammates looked to return to winning ways.
Comley started as Montserrat made their way to the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador and took on El Salvador in their sixth and final CONCACAF Nations League — League B — Group A game.
After losing 2-1 to St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday. Montserrat were hoping to bounce back and add three much-needed points to their dismal tally that had already seen them eliminated from the group, missing out on a potential place in the Gold Cup.
Unfortunately, the game didn't pan out that way as CD FAS forward Rafael Tejada gave El Salvador the lead within the opening ten minutes after Montserrat goalkeeper Trent Carter-Rodgers spilled a cross into his path. This enabled him to fire the ball over the line and ultimately win the match for his side.
Donervon Daniels wasn't selected for the matchday squad with Head Coach Lee Bowyer only naming four players on the bench, something that was probably a positive for the Saddlers as the playing surface was dreadful.
