Former Walsall goalkeeper Owen Evans has returned to former club Cheltenham Town after leaving the Saddlers at the end of last month.

27-year-old Evans was among a handful of players to leave the Saddlers at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, is no stranger to the Robins having enjoyed two spells with the club.

The Newport-born stopper first joined Cheltenham on loan from parent club Wigan Athletic in January 2020 after Flinders, who has since joined Mansfield Town, suffered a broken leg.

Spending the first half of the campaign with Macclesfield Town, Evans started eleven league matches and along with the Robins' Play-Off semi-finals against Northampton Town, even saving a penalty during the first leg.

He then returned to Wigan for the 2020/21 season, but made only one league appearance for the Latics before returning to Cheltenham last summer, signing a two-year deal.

Joining Walsall in the summer of 2022, Owen went on to make seventy-nine first-team appearances for the club before hic contract expired a few days ago.

We would like to thank Owen for all his efforts during his time in WS1, and wish him all the best for the future.
