Academy goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay has signed a new two-year contract with the Hornets, with the club also having an additional one-year option.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper will also immediately continue his development with a loan move to Bedford Town until the end of the season.

Born in Sweden, Macaulay first joined Watford in February 2021 and signed a new two-year deal with the club in July 2023.

Macaulay has represented both England and Sweden at youth level, and has previously spent time on loan at Hemel Hempstead Town and Oxford City.

Bedford Town currently sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central, ahead of a home game with Stamford tomorrow.

Congratulations and good luck, Jonathan!

Watford FC can also confirm the departure of defender Kayky Almeida.

The Brazilian returns to Fluminense for an undisclosed fee, with the Hornets retaining a significant sell-on clause.
