Tom Cleverley labelled Ken Sema a model professional as the Watford Head Coach wished his former teammate farewell.

Sema’s contract was cancelled by mutual consent yesterday, bringing to an end his six-and-a-half season spell with the Hornets.

‘King’ Ken made 176 appearances for the club, with 52 of these coming alongside Cleverley, including during the 2018/19 run to the FA Cup final, and the promotion campaign of 2020/21.

The Sweden international also played a further 20 games with the former Watford captain as Head Coach.

“Ken's been a fantastic servant to the club,” Cleverley said. “He has given us so many memorable moments.

“He's been a really important senior figure over these past few years.

“Promotion will I guess be the stand-out on Ken's Watford CV, but scoring in the Premier League and being part of the FA Cup final squad will be special memories as well.

“More important than any of these achievements, for me, is that he's been a great example of what being a professional footballer is all about.

“Of course I've got a personal connection with the guys who I shared a promotion season with as a player, so Ken will always have my respect.”
