KitAid: Donate Your Shirts Before Plymouth!

03/27/2025 09:59 AM
Hornets fans will have another opportunity to donate to KitAid ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Plymouth Argyle (March 29, 12.30pm KO).
A drop-off point will be in place at The Hornets Shop at Vicarage Road Stadium, remaining there until Wednesday April 2.
Volunteers will also be outside the shop from 11am to collect supporters’ donations.
KitAid distributes football kits to the world’s poorest countries – with shirts from any club welcome as long as they are in good and clean condition.
It was founded in 1998 by Hornets Season Ticket holder Derrick Williams MBE, with Graham Taylor OBE becoming a patron in 2005.
The Hornets teaming up with KitAid is part of Green Football’s Great Save Campaign.
Football is facing a climate crisis, and we can all play a part in protecting the game we love.
Every year, an estimated 100,000 tonnes of sportswear ends up in UK landfills – but by keeping our kit in play for just nine more months, we can reduce its environmental impact by up to 30 per cent.
Green Football’s Great Save is encouraging supporters to donate, sell or re-use old football shirts and gear in order to stop kit from going to waste.
Once you’ve made your donation, log it at greenfootball.org/green-cup for the chance to win match tickets and free Sky Sports for a year.
For larger donations, including full team kits, collections can be arranged by the KitAid volunteers.
The charity has donated more than 1.1 million items of kit across Africa, South America, Asia and Eastern Europe, supporting more than 75,000 teams across the developing world.
It has also recycled 100,000 items of kit, preventing them from landfill or from being burned.
Watford FC has supported the charity for many years, holding previous collections at The Vic as well as regularly donating surplus kit from the training ground, Hornets Shop and the club’s Community Trust.
