Zavier Massiah-Edwards thanked Head Coach Tom Cleverley after making his home debut for Watford in the 0-0 draw with Plymouth Argyle.

The 18-year-old forward, who has been with the club since the Under-10s, did not look out of place after being introduced in the 79th minute.

“I'm grateful to Clevs, firstly for giving me this opportunity,” Massiah-Edwards said to watfordfc.com.

“Clevs told me what to do, and I just went out there and tried to do it as best as I could.

“I think you just imagine getting on the pitch. It was definitely a dream come true.”

The teenager received a warm reception from The Vic and won an early corner after his introduction.

“Obviously, I was a little bit nervous when I came on,” he said. “But once I heard the crowd, it helped me along.

“It definitely made me feel at home.

“I've always played in the forward role, and I've always been used to playing against tall players, so all of that definitely helped me today.”

Massiah-Edwards also thanked his more senior team-mates who helped him fit into the side.

“It was brilliant, and especially because they trust me on the ball,” he said.

“And I think that comes through training, through relationships and just getting to know each other.

“The fact they trust me with the ball is good.”
