News: Cleverley On Transfer Window

Tom Cleverley said he is enjoying the challenge of his first January transfer window as a Head Coach as he works alongside the Board to strengthen the squad.
The Hornets boss explained his role in the process, while stressing that he would not let his attention slip from matters on the pitch as the 2024/25 season continues.
“It’s my job to identify where we feel like we could strengthen,” Cleverley said.
“I expect us to be active, and pro-active to try and do so.
“Obviously, in January, it’s not as easy as that and all the clubs around us are in the same boat.
“As a coach or a manager, I feel like you are a little less involved in this window because the season is still going on.
“In the summer, you’ve got June and July where you can be a lot more involved in the process.
“For now, we’ve identified as a club where we can strengthen, but it’s more in the hands of the Board this one.”
A busy schedule will continue tomorrow with a trip to Premier League Fulham in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup (Thursday January 9, 7.45pm KO).
“I try to keep my focus on the team and on the results,” Cleverley added.
“We have to try and sustain the level of performance that we’ve had, and hopefully strengthen.
“We’re right in the thick of a congested fixture period, and I can’t take my eye off the team and the results.
“It’s my first January as a coach, and I’m enjoying the challenges which comes with it.”
