News: Hornets Pride Week Begins This Weekend

01/30/2025 05:30 AM
Watford FC is delighted to announce the beginning of the 2024/25 edition of Hornets Pride Week this coming Saturday (February 1).
Hornets Pride Week will run from this weekend’s men’s team match against Norwich City and women’s team match against Ipswich Town, until Friday February 7.
The aims of Hornets Pride Week, now into its third season, are simple. While our support for the Proud Hornets – our LGBTQ+ supporters’ group – and the wider LGBTQ+ community in our town continues all year round, Hornets Pride Week offers the chance to amplify the voices of the Proud Hornets and promote the campaigns and events we support.
The club’s ongoing dialogue with Proud Hornets led to the creation of Hornets Pride Week, which is carried out in partnership with the Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust. Members of the group will be at the Club and Trust events across the week to promote awareness to our players and staff.
The week also sees the club continue its support for Football v Homophobia’s Month of Action, which aims to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels of football.
This national campaign challenges our sport to take a clear stand against homophobia and transphobia so that everyone can enjoy matches in a safe and inclusive environment.
We are also pleased to confirm that our sponsorship of Herts Pride will continue into its third year, building on our commitment to the local LGBTQ+ community outside of the game. Herts Pride is Hertfordshire’s largest LGBTQ+ festival, which will this year take place on Saturday August 30 in Cassiobury Park.
The local commitment continues with our support for Proud Watford, a volunteer-led group which aims to deliver a range of events working alongside Watford people, groups, organisations, businesses and other allies, with the aim of promoting LGBTQI+ visibility and equality.
Keep an eye on the club’s website and social media channels for more details about all of these campaigns and groups across the course of Hornets Pride Week.
