Festy Ebosele’s loan with Watford has ended after the wing-back was recalled by Udinese.
The Republic of Ireland international initially agreed a season-long deal in August, with the 22-year-old making his Hornets debut from the bench in the 1-1 draw against Coventry City on September 14.
Ebosele then marked his first league start for the club with his only goal a fortnight later, scoring the opener with a controlled finish in the 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
He made eight starts for Tom Cleverley’s side in all, featuring 19 times in total before going off with an ankle injury in his last game against Preston.
“Festy came to the club with the intention of being a starter for us," explained the Watford boss.
“He didn’t quite manage to nail that down, primarily because it’s an area of the pitch where we’ve been fairly strong.”
TC added: “Potential opportunities were coming at a time when we really needed consistency and that’s not one of Festy’s strengths right now.
“He’s a match-winner for sure; he’s explosive, he’s got frightening pace and we just didn’t have the time in the team to offer him to develop some of the key attributes he’ll want to improve on.
“When he recognises those areas, he’ll have a really bright future as a young player with a lot of potential for growth.”
