Sissoko On Cardiff: "We Showed Character"

Moussa Sissoko admitted that the Hornets were not at their best against Cardiff City but he hopes snatching a late point will help propel the side to better things.
Vakoun Bayo struck three minutes from time to earn a 1-1 draw against the Bluebirds, with the Ivorian’s header ending a run of four straight defeats in all competitions.
The Hornets struck following a rare spell of pressure towards the end of the game after Cian Ashford had given Cardiff a 65th-minute lead.
Before then, keeping things tight and trying to be hard to beat had been a big part of the visitors’ gameplan.
“The feeling is that we know that we could have done better, but after three losses in a row in the league, and one in the cup, we wanted a reaction to stop the defeats,” Sissoko told watfordfc.com.
“I think you could see from most parts of the game that we didn’t play our football, we were more trying to stay solid at the back while trying to play the long ball, win second balls and trying to be dominant in their half.
“We conceded the first goal but we showed a good reaction, we didn’t give up, and we deserved to equalise and earn a draw.
“I think that a draw is fair for both teams and for our next game we have to go with a better mentality, and try to play better football, and win games.”
Sissoko admitted that the run of defeats had been tough on the team, with all eyes now on the trip to Derby County on Saturday (January 18, 3pm KO).
“When you keep losing you want to do well but mentally it’s tough, as it seems like everything you are trying is going against you,” he said.
“Today we showed good character.
“The positive thing tonight was it was a big reaction from the team.
“We will look back at what we could have done better, and try to improve for the next game.”
