Sustainability: Fan Wins Training Ground Trip

Watford season-ticket holder Harrison Confait will experience a visit to the Hornets’ London Colney training ground after winning the November prize draw run in association with club partner Lowr, the fan sustainability platform.
The 20-year-old will be given a private tour of the grounds with the Head Groundsman and install an owl box in his name to support the club’s biodiversity efforts.
Harrison was entered into the monthly draw by logging his travel to and from Watford games via the sustainability section of the official club app.
The initiative comes as the club looks to reduce its carbon emissions, with supporter travel the largest producer.
“I saw about it through the programme and signed up, and I started reading about it to try and understand what it was all about,” said Harrison.
“I started logging it in to see what the difference was [between journeys].
“I definitely look at things differently, I mostly walk to the games.
“If I get a lift to a game one week and you look at the difference [in emissions] it makes from another week, it changes completely.”
Harrison sits in the Rookery and has held a season ticket since the 2014/15 promotion season.
He said going up that year and Gerard Deulofeu’s Wembley masterclass in the 2019 FA Cup semi-final against Wolves were among his favourite memories of supporting the club.
“My dad starting taking me and it was me and my dad’s thing,” he said.
“A few seasons ago my brother started coming.
“I think my first game was Millwall away, I was thrown in at the deep end!”
Tom Dele-Bashiru, Kwadwo Baah and Festy Ebosele are the Hornets players Harrison would most like to bump into during the training ground tour.
“It’s not an experience you get to do every day, so it’s exciting,” he added.
“To see the different aspects of what it’s like for professionals, to see where they go into work compared to what we do.”
The competition has now opened again, with the prize an exclusive Watford FC travel bundle including a backpack, travel pillow and water bottle.
Fans using the app can earn up to four tickets for the draw each month by collecting points in a variety of ways.
These include logging your matchday travel as Harrison did, answering weekly quiz questions, committing to a sustainable pledge or reading an article and answering a question at the end.
