Match Info

Fixture: Plymouth Argyle v Watford
Competition: FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division
Venue: Langsford Road, Tavistock
Time: Sunday January 19, 2pm
Strip: Yellow home kit

Watford FC Women will hope to at last return to action on Sunday with a trip to Plymouth Argyle in the FA WNL Southern Premier Division.

The Golden Girls have been hit by a pair of weather-related postponements in 2025, meaning they haven't played since December 15 when they won 5-1 away at Billericay Town.

This victory made it three wins in a row in the league, so keeping this form going will be top of the agenda for the long trip to Devon.

How The Land Lies

Watford have slipped to sixth in the table due to their inactivity - sitting 12 points behind leaders Hashtag United with three games in hand.

The Golden Girls are nine points behind second-placed Ipswich Town, with both sides on the same number of games.

Head Coach Renée Hector's side have two games in hand on Exeter City, AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United, in third, fourth and fifth respectively, with just six points separating the four clubs.

Plymouth sit 10th in the table - one place and one point above the relegation zone - after winning three and losing nine of their 12 games this season.

Argyle have reached the semi-finals of the FA Women's National League Cup, however, after knocking out the Golden Girls in the last eight with a 1-0 victory at Home Park on December 1.

They next face a last-four clash with Stoke City on January 26.

Pre-Match Chat

Hector told watfordfc.com that the team are once again chomping at the bit to get back into match action.

"Hopefully the weather holds up and we think it will," she said. "I know the girls are itching to get back on the pitch to try and get some points on the board.

"We've done some good preparation, some in-house games to try and keep us fresh and ready to go.

"We're looking forward to the game."

Watford will be travelling down today and staying in Devon before the game.

A tricky contest is expected as the Hornets try to right the wrong of their cup exit.

"Plymouth did well last time in nullifying our threats and being super compact," said Hector.

"They defended their goal really well. It's something that we've worked on because we've come up against a mid-to-low block against a lot of teams this season.

"We hope that the work we have done on the training pitch will pay dividends and that we can put it right this Sunday."

Team News

Hector said that she has a full squad to pick from for the trip to the South-West.

"It will be difficult to choose the squad this weekend as we have more than 18 available," she said.

"But it's a good problem to have because it keeps it super competitive."
