West Ham United are considering a shocking move for Galatasaray striker Michy Batshuayi as Graham Potter seeks an urgent solution to the club's attacking injury woes.

According to Turkish news outlet Aksam, the Belgian forward is interested in returning to the Premier League, with the Hammers exploring a potential six-month loan deal.

After a challenging start to the season under former manager Julen Lopetegui, West Ham sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

With Graham Potter now at the helm, the Hammers are hoping for a resurgence and have started as they mean to go on.

Potter made his Premier League debut with a crucial 3-2 win against London rivals Fulham, and fans will be hoping for more of the same when the Hammers host Crystal Palace at the weekend.

West Ham certainly weren’t lacking firepower against Fulham, but Potter is keen to sign a striker to bolster his attacking options, and Batshuayi has emerged as a potential candidate.

The 31-year-old is reportedly preparing to leave Gala in what has been described as a “surprise” transfer, but West Ham should bin the idea of signing Batshuayi before it becomes a serious thought.

A move for Batshuayi is ridiculous and shouldn’t be entertained

West Ham shouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of bringing Batshuayi back to the Premier League, so let’s hope this is a rumour born out of sheer desperation for reinforcement.

Since leaving Chelsea on a permanent deal in 2021, Batshuayi has moved from Besiktas to Fenerbahce before landing at Gala on a free transfer.

The Belgian has started just one of his 17 Super Lig appearances this season.

While he has managed to return five goals and two assists, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s far from what West Ham need at the moment.

West Ham must show more ambition than simply handing out a contract to a striker who couldn’t hack it in the Premier League and the Turkish league.

The January window is certainly difficult to navigate, but Potter and co are better off targeting a younger striker to fill the void left by Antonio and Fullkrug's absences.
