In recent years, Atletico Madrid's relationship with Saudi Arabia has grown. Riyadh Air is the club's official shirt sponsor, while there has also been talk of the company soon also holding the naming rights for the Metropolitano.
According to El Independiente (via MD), things could take a massive step further in the coming years, as it has been reported that Saudi Arabia have shown interest in becoming the new owners of the club.
The government of the Middle Eastern nation is already said to have asked about the conditions of a hypothetical purchase, in the event of CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin selling his shares.

For the moment, Gil Marin has absolutely no plans to leave, which would mean that Saudi Arabia would not be able to take control at Atletico Madrid. Their arrival would certainly solve their financial problems, although things are absolute fine as they are now, so there is no real need for change.
