African country in joint bid to host Women's World Cup

Morocco are in the race to host the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup after joining forces with Spain and Portugal in a joint bid.

This was revealed by the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Rafael Louzan, who made the three countries’ intentions known.

Spain has already secured the 2030 men’s FIFA World Cup in partnership with Portugal and Morocco and the women’s in 2035 would follow a similar format.

"What better way to showcase women's sport than with the contribution of the most important global sporting event in existence: the World Cup. That's what we're working on," Louzan told Relevo.

Morocco are set to be become the second African country to host the men’s World Cup after South Africa, who staged the 2010 edition.

The North African country could become the first African country to host both the men’s and women’s World Cup finals.
