Bafana, Zimbabwe set sights on Morocco AFCON showpiece

Hugo Broos' and his Bafana Bafana outfit were among some of the top performers during the latest round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the popular side confirmed their spot at next year's tournament in Morocco.

In Group G, Zambia stunned reigning champions Ivory Coast with a 1-0 win at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Friday evening.

The Copper Bullets were in a competitive mode throughout the 90 minutes and made their intentions known from the get go. Nevertheless, Kennedy Musonda's 43rd minute strike saw Zambia end matchday five at the top of Group G.

Elsewhere, South Africa moved to the top of Group K this week following a 2-0 win against Uganda at the Mandela National Stadium on Friday.

Second-half efforts by Thapelo Morena and Patrick Maswanganyi saw Bafana Bafana accumulate 11 points after five matches played so far. Now, in an attempt to top Group K, South Africa will face South Sudan in matchday six at the DHL Stadium on the 19th of November.

Also, Zimbabwe made sure to book their ticket to the Moroccan showpiece after jotting down a 1-1 draw with Kenya at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The result saw Zimbabwe finish 2nd in Group J after opening up a four-point lead over Kenya, who recorded back-to-back defeats in their last set of qualifiers.
