'Liverpool are foolish not to cash in on Salah'

Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes that players such as Mohamed Salah should not be walking out as a free agent after Liverpool failed to agree a new contract ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Egyptian star's immediate future has been a major talking point in English football in the last couple of months and is expected to leave the club at the end of the current season.

According to Johnson, the 32-year-old will not be short of any suitors and that the Reds should have put themselves in a position to cash in on their talisman.

“I believe Mo will leave and the other two will stay [Trent Alexander-Arnold & Virgil van Dijk],” Johnson told Betfred, as per Liverpool.com.

“Each of them is going to have an endless list of clubs that will want to sign them if they’re available as a free agent.

"if Liverpool knows that any of them aren’t going to sign a new contract, then I believe they’ve been foolish to not cash in. You can’t have players of their calibre walking out on a free.”
