Lookman, Salah & M'boussy set to headline Matchday 1 in the UCL

With the new format of the UEFA Champions League set to commence this week, here's a look at some of the top African stars to look out for in matchday one of Europe's premium club competition.

As one of the most keenly anticipated fixtures in the initial round of UCL action, reigning Europa League winners Atalanta will host Arsenal at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday.

Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman is expected to take the attacking initiative against the Gunners, while Ghanaian star Thomas Partey will likely get the nod in midfield against the Serie A giants.

Elsewhere, Congo star Silvere Ganvoula M’boussy will look to continue his confident scoring run when Young Boys welcome Aston Villa to the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday night.

M’boussy currently has three goals to his name in four matches played so far, while DR Congo star Meschack Elia Lina could feature alongside M'boussy in attack.

Moroccan forward Couhaib Driouech has been in fine form for PSV this season and will be keen to extend his goal tally this season when the Dutch giants take on Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Also, Liverpool will travel to the San Siro on Tuesday where they will take on AC Milan in another mouthwatering Champions League clash. Salah, who has six goals and six assists in eight games for the Reds this season, will once again attempt to grab the headlines in Europe this week.
